One of the greatest things about the Great Western wine region is its ability to successfully grow a broad range of grape varieties. Shiraz may be the regional hero, but Cabernet Sauvignon from the area can lay almost equal claim. Best’s Great Western Cabernet Sauvignon is a fine example of the Great Western Regional style; showing rich, mocha and berry fruit with a solid mid-palate weight thanks to superbly concentrated fruit.
Dark inky garnet with deep purple hue. Rich and broody berry aromas dominate including blackberry and plum. A background of tobacco leaf and nutty oak add complexity. On the palate fine but intense with a core of vibrant dark fruit.
“86% cabernet sauvignon, 4% merlot, shiraz and cabernet franc, destemmed, a mix of fermentation vessels, matured for 12 months in used French oak. Strong crimson-purple; pure, intense and long, cassis to the fore, black olive and firm, but ripe tannins. Best’s is having a ball.” – 95 Points & Special Value Wine James Halliday
