96 Points & Special Value Wine James Halliday
Trophy Best Pinot Noir of Show
Wine Show of Western Australia 2018
Castle Rock Estate is nestled on the eastern slopes of the Porongurup mountain and is named after a prominent nearby landmark. The vineyard has a cool and elevated northerly aspect, resulting in intensley flavoured wines.
“Good retention of hue and depth. This is one of the best pinot noirs from Castle Rock (’11, ’12 and ’14 were also 96 points). The bouquet and palate seamlessly interact, each with red cherry, wild strawberries, mirror-smooth but important tannins and totally integrated oak. Can’t be climate change, but could easily – indeed most likely – be greater vine maturity.” – 96 Points & Special Value Wine James Halliday
