95 Points & Special Value Wine James Halliday
2018 celebrates a historic milestone with the Rosé of Virginia being made for 29 consecutive years by Charles Melton. Rated by James Halliday as one of the leading producers of Rosé, Charles Melton Rosé of Virginia is a benchmark of this style and not one to be missed!
If Charles Melton could dial up the perfect hue for Rose of Virginia every year the 2018 would be the model. Deep enough to be distinctly Virginia but with a lightness of touch to keep it on the Rose side of the spectrum.
Highly aromatic with a lovely musk infused primary bouquet but hints of crushed mint and clove. Lovely weight with a crisp citrus tang of acidity and the traditional rounding out of some apparent but silky tannins
“64% grenache, 26% shiraz, 10% cabernet sauvignon. Deep, bright carmine; the colour derives from brief skin contact post crushing, and a 6-week cold fermentation. The wine is charged with luscious red fruits and an airbrush of tannins on the finish, giving texture to carry the delicious fruit without a blemish.” – 95 Points & Special Value Wine James Halliday
