“An outstanding wine.” – 97 Points Huon Hooke
The growing season for 2016 Diana Madeline was favourable with good spring rains and warm conditions. After 3 vintages of tiny yields we are delighted with this vintage giving us a wine of elegance, brilliant colour and purity of fruit. All the classic Cullen Vineyard Wilyabrup flavours are there: cassis, violets, chocolate and ironstone.
It is a blend of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, 1% Malbec and 1% Petit Verdot. 100% from the Cullen Vineyard.
“Very deep, bright purple/red colour leads into a sweetly ripe, rich berry and violet bouquet which is fruit-driven, vibrant and fresh. Blueberries and herbs. Wonderfully elegant and piercingly intense. An outstanding wine.” – 97 Points Huon Hooke
“93% cabernet sauvignon, 5% merlot, 1% each of malbec and petit verdot, matured for 14 months in French barriques (67% new). Elegance personified, no compromise likewise. Then rack up extraordinary attention to detail, and the Wilyabrup district, the greatest part of the Margaret River. Given these parameters, the fluid grace of this beautiful wine might seem almost inevitable. But, of course, it’s not – it’s the distillation of two generations.” – 98 Points James Halliday
All Cullen Wines are grown on a certified Biodynamic, Carbon Neutral and naturally powered estate. Grapes are harvested by hand on fruit and flower days according to the astrological calendar. The wines have no additions of yeast, acid or malolactic culture, and are in this sense natural wines which express the place and land on which they are grown, the vintage and the people.
