‘there are few chardonnays from ’15 with the intensity and freshness of this wine’

Margaret River and Chardonnay go hand in hand, but the expressions of this variety across the region are many and varied.
The Flowstone Chardonnay is from the southern reaches of the region, and is a more restrained and subtle wine than some of its more northern contemporaries.
From one single vineyard in Karridale, in the southern climes of Margaret River. This cooler part of the region gives flavours of pear and grapefruit, and more finesse and restraint to the palate. Ripening is later, and natural acids retained while varietal characters can develop. This vineyard is planted to the Dijon clones 95 and 96. The rows are planted north/south, and vine spacings are 3 x 1.5 m.
“Whole-bunch pressed, fermented in French oak (25% new), mlf, matured for 11 months, occasional stirring, plus a further 30 months in bottle before release. I know of no other Aus maker of chardonnay who holds the wine for 30 months prior to sale. Gleaming straw-green; there are few chardonnays from ’15 with the intensity and freshness of this wine It is as fresh as a daisy, and despite its power and concentration, moves with athletic grace across the palate and aftertaste A beautiful chardonnay. 320 dozen made.” – 97 Points & Special Value Wine James Halliday
