The Cliff Edge Shiraz is 100% estate grown, showcasing the Shiraz vine’s affinity for the granite slopes of Mount Langi Ghiran. The 2015 vintage provided near perfect conditions for grape growing. A long dry Summer with warm days and cool nights resulted in slow and steady ripening, ideal for producing Shiraz of distinctive character with immense complexity and spice.
Small batches and an array of winemaking techniques, including a portion of whole bunch fermentation, accentuate the subtle nuances of florals and spice found throughout the vineyard, creating a wine with individuality.
“Hand-picked, whole berries and whole bunches small batch open-fermented, larger concrete fermenters at the original winery also included for extended maceration on skins for 2 weeks, matured for 19 months in French oak (27% new). Both bouquet and medium-bodied palate offer a tapestry of black fruits, spices and black pepper, tannins woven through the succulent, juicy black fruits, French oak there or thereabouts, and fine lingering tannins.” – 96 Points & Special Value Wine James Halliday
