‘As Burgundian as Australia gets.’
96 Points & Special Value Wine Ned Goodwin
Mountadam Vineyards was established in 1972. The fruit used to craft this wine was selected from both the western and eastern vineyards. The vines are planted at 450 to 550 meters above sea level.
On release the wine has a lifted, complex aroma. Lifted white peach and nectarine characters dominate. Subtle spice and creamy characters add to the wines aromatic complexity. The palate is restrained and elegant. It displays the same fruit characters of white peach and nectarine through-out. The mid and back palates are driven by a gentle line of grapefruit like acid
“Mountadam, a proud estate, has surged back into top gear over the last few years, crafting some truly stellar wines. I love the use of oak here. Not shy, following 12-14 months in barrique, it nevertheless serves as an adjunct, toning the cavalcade of stone fruit flavours while providing welcome signposts for the savoury, exceptionally long, solidsy/nutty finish. The acid is a plume. Juicy and palate-whetting. As Burgundian as Australia gets.” – 96 Points & Special Value Wine Ned Goodwin
