Outstanding expressions of single vineyards within the Yarra Valley.
This wine was sourced from the north facing Willowlake Vineyard, sited in the red volcanic soils of Gladysdale. Vintage – A traditional winemaking approach was used to produce this wine – handpicking and whole bunch pressing directly to 500 litre French oak puncheons for a natural fermentation followed by 10 month maturation on lees. A warm, wet spring followed by a dry summer and autumn period has delivered good crops in near perfect harvesting conditions.
“Racy, lean, crisp, minerally. Flint and green apple juice to sniff on, same to taste with a gummy pucker of ‘liquid minerality’. Feels very energetic, an agenda to move fast, keep you hydrated and refresh the palate. Very precise, is another thing to say. A bit more juice and detail than some of the more skeletal Oakridge chardonnay releases. Really dig it.” – 94 Points Mike Bennie, Winefront.
“All the chardonnays in the Vineyard Series are made identically, so capturing the essence of the place is paramount. This is so good. Flinty, fine, citrusy, long and pure. An ethereal style, yet so much going on. It’s hard to pick a favourite in this range. They are all expressive. Today it’s Willowlake, tomorrow … who knows?” – 96 Points & Special Value Wine Jane Faulkner
“Sitting in a complex and convincing style, this has a very intense nose with gun flint, lemon, spiced pastry and peach. The energetic palate delivers electrifyingly fresh acidity that supports concentrated, ripe and fleshy fruit flavors” – 96 Points Nick Stock for James Suckling
