‘One of the unsung heroes of SA shiraz.’

After purchasing Lot 3 Elliots Road, Blewitt Springs in 1960, the Patritti family began planting their new Shiraz vineyard. By 1969 twenty-five acres of Shiraz had been planted on the ancient 56 million year old soil known as North Maslin sand. Its elevation of 156 metres and natural balance give the site an identity of its own.
Each year the best rows are selected by their winemakers and the fruit is used to craft their flagship wine, JPB Limited Release Shiraz.
“From the low-yielding (1.4t/a) estate vineyard at Blewitt Springs, hand-picked, crushed and destemmed, fermented in closed fermenters, 9 days on skins (2 days pre addition of cultured yeast), matured for 17 months in new puncheons, 60% American, 40% French. Immaculate cork. The seamless integration of the new oak tells you just how great the quality of the fruit is; blackberry and satsuma plum occupy centre stage, but allow regional dark chocolate to make its mark. One of the unsung heroes of SA shiraz.” – 97 Points & Special Value Wine James Halliday
