The winery and vineyards are set amongst the rolling hills in the Polish Hill River region of the beautiful and historic Clare Valley.
Pristine aromas of lime, lemon and grapefruit dominate initially, with some gentle floral notes kicking in behind these. Maybe just a suggestion of wet slate/stones too. Very typical and very attractive. On the Palate fresh, crisp and dry as it always is upon release. The palate is chockful of the citrus characters aforementioned, well balanced by the zingy acid that provides much of the drive to the finish. Finishes clean and dry with just a hint of textural grip.
“Employs estate and contract-grown fruit from Polish Hill River, Watervale and Sevenhill. It’s a delicious wine with lime juice the dominant fruit, backed by balanced acidity. Some vignerons fared better than others in the vintage, Pikes on the good side.” – 95 Points & Special Value Wine James Halliday
“Some spice and kaffir lime leaf, juicy citrus, pithy and chalky texture, a nice energy about it, delivering juicy flavour, crunch and a pretty impressive mouth-watering stony finish. Some gin and tonic sweetness/bitterness in the aftertaste. Excellent.” – 93 Points Gary Walsh, Winefront
“Very attractive, very fragrant bouquet of floral aromas with pastry/bakery overtones. Some green apple in the crisply acidic aftertaste and follow-through. Very good and has lots of potential.” – 93 Points Huon Hooke
