Made at Clonakilla
Whole berries fermented in 1000 oakl vats, left on skins for 8 months post ferment. Matured in 2000l Stockinger foudre, no filtration.
Distinctly floral, layered with red fruit and a slight gamey twist. Quite rich palate with a long, fine tannic finish. Early days yet as these wines tend to show themselves over a long time.
Nebb’s are like food mecca for dishes involving game and savoury, umami rich food. Slow cooked hare, truffle infused pasta, roasted cauliflower with a black garlic sauce. Wild mushroom risotto with a splash of the wine in the rice. Think rustic, full flavoured gamey dishes and partner up with a Nebb.
“Sweet spice, pepper, clove and cinnamon, dark cherry and some herbal detail. A serious kind of vibe to kick off. Shows some flesh but quickly takes you to tannin town. Firm wreaths shoulder the cherry and amaro flavours, a good dusting of spice follows on from the chew. There’s a modern feel to it, but all that savouriness and succulent, fine acidity shows you what’s what. Top notch.” – 94 Points Mike Bennie, Winefront
