Grenache Shootout 2020
The Grenache Shootout is an invitation-only wine show bringing together some of the best Grenache and Grenache blends from around Australia.
Wines were judged blind in three rounds with the top 12 wines from the First Round moving into the Semi-Final. The top 4 wines from the Semi-Final were then judged head-to-head in a Grand Final. The key element the judges were searching for were wines that are delicious to drink and demand a second or third glass.
The McLaren Vale can be considered the home of Grenache blends here in Australia with some of the oldest vines in the world being dry grown there.
This Grenache ( 83% ), Shiraz ( 14% ) & Mataro ( 3% ) is selected from their premium estate vineyards in McLaren Vale. The region offers a diverse mix of soil types and vineyard orientation that enhance the complexity of Serafino wines.
Aromas of forest berries, rose petals, cherries, plums and spice. Medium bodied with a beautiful long even bright palate with musk, violets, plums and mouth watering silky tannins.
“Strikingly deep, bright-rimmed hue. The 83/14/3% blend works to perfection, with the red fruits of grenache doing all the lifting, shiraz providing a dab of plum coupled with silky tannins. Truly delicious.” – 96 Points & Special Value Wine James Halliday
