From 70 year old dry grown bush vines this is a delicate touch on an old variety. Wild fermented with 20% whole bunches this has trademark spice with strawberry and raspberry aromas. The palate is medium to full bodied with fine sandy tannins. 7 day wild ferment with regular pump over. 20% whole bunch inclusion. 16 months in seasoned French oak. Bottled without fining or filtration in September 2014.
“Lovely dried rose and herb perfume and spice, ripe raspberry, rhubarb crumble. Medium bodied, juicy but with some earth and dried herb, lovely fine emery board tannin, balanced acidity, and that fine brush of tannin cleaning up the finish. This is very good Grenache, and beautifully made too.” – 93 Points Gary Walsh
“From a single vineyard of 70yo dry grown bushvines. Grenache a la McLaren Vale, with a silky elegance and a fruit bowl of small red and purple berries with a fruit-filled (not sugar-filled) finish and aftertaste. There are sufficient spicy/savoury superfine tannins to lengthen the finish.” – 94 Points & Special Value Wine James Halliday
