Located in the Eden Valley near the Kaisher Stuhl national park sits the famed Kosi Riesling block. A parcel from this vineyard was selected and vinified separately for our 2018 Reserve wine as it showed incredible fruit purity and tight acidity. The ‘Kosi Block’ has an altitude of 500m with the rows running east to west and a westerly facing aspect. 2018 was a mostly dry season, which meant there was low disease pressure on the fruit and a later than usual picking date meant there was extended, gentle, and balanced ripening of the fruit which is perfect for making a wine with cellaring potential.

“It’s really, really hard to put this wine down. Expect to be wooed by the fragrance as much as the palate. A perfect blend of freshness and pulsing acidity, with some complexity of age starting to unfurl: preserved lemons with ginger spice, candied lime jellies, buttered toast and lime marmalade. “Very restrained, light colour for its age, and the bouquet is likewise reserved and fresh and shows less development than the same maker’s Clare Valley reserve. A lovely array of lemon, dried herb and dried floral aromas, very typical of the region, and the wine is ageing slowly, which bodes well for its future.
