Almost half of blend was Estate grown in the Wallcliffe sub-region of Margaret River. The remainder was predominantly sourced from two vineyards, in the more northern Margaret River subregions of Wilyabrup and Treeton. A small portion (9%) of Cabernet selected from a mature Geographe vineyard complemented the final blend.
Full-bodied yet refined, the generous palate offers a core of inky berry fruits; boysenberry, blackcurrants and Satsuma plums. Dense and well-structured, the palate is layered with these dark fleshy fruit characteristics and ripe tannins which culminate through to a persistent Cabernet finish.
Vibrant and robust in its youth, this is a wine which will certainly benefit from further bottle maturation, and will cellar comfortably for 5-10 years.
“It’s really good. Elegant and long but powerful. Curranty, soft, fluid, a little chocolatey, complexed by game, redolent of boot polish, the latter as a positive. It’s fresh, fragrant, infused with minted herbs, and impressive from the first sip. Tannin is of the same class as the wine’s other components. No brainer territory here.” – 93+ Points Campbell Mattinson, Winefront.
“88% cabernet sauvignon, 7% petit verdot, 5% malbec, crushed and destemmed, fermented with 33% left on skins for 4 weeks, matured for 14 months in French oak (40% new). This wine has a scented, spicy nuance to the base of cassis that adds a dimension to the flavour, yet leaves the wine not even medium-bodied, giving it grace and not making demands on the consumer. Superfine tannins complete the deal.’ – 96 Points & Special Value Wine James Halliday
